every other?

Are we still meeting every week or every other? I think I voted for every other with occasional extras (or whatever that option was) at the Yahoo site. So are we meeting tomorrow? (Cross-posted, er, emailed.)

Knit a blue square tonight!

I'm cross-posting this with the yahoo group because my emails always seem to get delayed on yahoo.

I saw on the new Warming Grace weblog that they really need some blue 5" squares for Grace's little boyfriend that's very sick. It's so sad, he's terminal and they want to get this blanket out to him asap. I knit up a few squares last night but they're trying to get 64 together immediately!

So I had an idea. Tonight I'm going to bring several skeins of blue yarn - some variegated, some cotton, some wool. I'm also going to bring my 365 stitches calendar and a bunch of washcloth patterns - that's where I've been getting stitch ideas. If you bring a size 6, 7, or 8 needle and a tape measure we could each knit up a square for Justin! They don't care what stitch it is as long as it's cotton or wool and 5" square. I'll even sew the ends in and block them all when we're done. You could bring whatever blue yarn you'd like of course.

I hope this isn't obnoxious but I thought it would be a meaningful way to spend our last snb with Beverly :)

Dollar day at Buffalo Exchange

Bev recently mentioned finding sweaters to felt at Buffalo Exchange, so I thought I'd pass this along...

This Earth Day, celebrate with some guilt-free shopping at the
Buffalo Exchange resale store in Albuquerque,
https://community.hsus.org/ct/NdzgbIS1vmO5/.

Not only will you find hip, interesting clothing and accessories
at the store, but on Earth Day (which is this Saturday, April
22), the Buffalo Exchange's Dollar Day sale benefits The Humane
Society of the United States (HSUS). Sales from all items
offered for $1 each on April 22 will go to support our urban
wildlife protection programs, including Wild Neighbors(TM) (see
https://community.hsus.org/ct/A1zgbIS1vRO3/) and the Urban
Wildlife Sanctuary Program (see
https://community.hsus.org/ct/AdzgbIS1vROe/). Store hours and
locations for the Buffalo Exchange resale store in Albuquerque,
https://community.hsus.org/ct/NdzgbIS1vmO5/, are listed online.

Buffalo Exchange is also supporting our Coats for Cubs program
(https://community.hsus.org/ct/_pzgbIS1vROx/). Through
Saturday, you can bring in any real or faux fur apparel,
including fur trim, fur accessories (hats, gloves, etc.), and
shearling to the store. Tell them it's a donation for The HSUS,
and they'll handle it from there. Recycled furs are distributed
to wildlife rehabilitators to be used as bedding to comfort
injured and orphaned wildlife.

I hope you'll stop by the store on Saturday to shop for
"recycled" fashions while supporting our animal protection
programs.

Sincerely,

Wayne Pacelle
President & CEO
The Humane Society of the United States

Shadow Shawl-a-long

In case you didn't read about this on the Yahoo Group site...Jamie and I are both going to make the Shadow Shawl after we finish with Sockapaloooza. Does anyone else want to make it as a summer a-long project, like we did (well, I didn't finish, ok, whatever) for the Jaywalkers? Village Wools has the pattern, and if you haven't seen their koigu selection lately, you owe it to yourself!

Leave a comment if you're interested...let's plan to cast on the first Tuesday in May...sound good?

Warming Grace

Hey Girls (and guys) and just joined a project called Warming Grace. Cynthia, who has the blog Two Wooden Sticks has a 5- yr- old niece named Grace. Grace has Leukemia and Cynthia would like to make a blanket for her and other children suffering from cancer. She is asking people to knit a pink, 5in square in any stitch you like. She will sew the squares into blankets. The yarn cannot be acrylic, it must be soft wool or cotton. I will be happy to donate the yarn (I'm thinking some soft Manos) if anyone else would like to knit a square. Just let me know.
Thanks, Ramona

Crochet? And a Fun Sounding Swap

First, a few of you have mentioned wanting to learn some crochet. My gram, Jennie May, taught me on a car ride from CT to OH when I was 19. I still remember a whole lot of what Jennie May showed me, and I'll be glad to share with anyone who's interested. Just let me know who wants a lesson, and we'll figure out a good time. Maybe a Crafty Friday in April?

Also, check out this swap that the scissors squad put on. Doesn't that sound like fun? Maybe we can set something up for the October Taos trip--I know there are people from all over coming to join us there...we should think about an inter-SnB swap.

I'm rambling. See you all on Tuesday! xx
